Mountain Lion
Mountain Lion Other name : America Lion, Cougar, Puma
I saw a mountain lion almost every day..it's ran from the East Bay, crossed the bay bridge, and then to our place of work. I finally took pictures of its front view and back view...
Check the picture.... Don't be scared..ok?
oops... it is the other kind of mountain lion...a cougar... that is, a Mercury Cougar that my co-worker drives to work.. hahaha...
Then I saw a mountain lion at the shopping mall, especially the outlet kind. They are usually hiding in front of the wall or the middle of the racks. Yeah you might not realize where they are.. Yes!! they are..I didn't know there are so many kinds of them. check the picture.. Do you want to see? What?? You don't want to see?? Com'n!! It's not a car this time!!
oops...
Puma shoes... hahaha.. huh? Ok no more corny jokes....
Anyway... This is a picture of a real Montain Lion.
Yesterday the police came to our area and was checking the bushes behind our building. Why are they doing this? Someone called the police and reported sighting a Mountain Lion in the vicinity of our building!! Oh my.. Mountain Lion?? How come??? Our location is an industrial area...
Then today, during lunchtime, at least 3 of my work colleagues the something that looks like a mountain lion in our area. They called the police again..but they still couldn't find it.
I know a mountain lion is a wild and dangerous animal. I also know they can hide and watch us..but they will not attack unless they have children or hunting for food. I still have to be careful but I am not scared at all.
Mountain lion inhabits 50% of California. Also I realized..even if we are in an industrial area, there still quite a lot of greeneries between buildings that connects to the mountain, too. Also recently it's been really cold in the San Francisco Area. So they probably might not have enough in the mountain.. and are now here to forage for food.
If you accidentally encounter a mountain lion, how will you protect yourself? I learned this from the National Park Guide Book. According to the book, if we encounter them, we just simply wave your arms around and make a big noise. Just show them we are bigger, taller, and stronger.. So they will run away. They don't recommend that one try to run away from them. Try to be calm and don't panic and show any fear. We probably took their habitat and so we just have to learn to live, respect and share the land we now both call home.
